In the United States, Black Americans account for only 5 percent of participants in clinical trials, primarily due to skepticism towards the medical system, which skews research findings and intensifies racial healthcare inequalities. A recent Harvard study indicates that Black participants express greater interest in trials helmed by Black principal investigators. Analyzing responses from 323 Black individuals exposed to different investigator images, researchers noted a 12.6 percent rise in participation interest with Black leadership. They assert that building healthcare trust necessitates representation, cautioning that diversity alone will not dismantle existing barriers. The study also included scholars from Cornell, Northwestern, and Pompeu Fabra University.
