Hip-Hop Legendary DJ Passes Away at 57

(Photo credit: Instagram) One of hip-hop’s most influential DJs, producers, and radio personalities, DJ Mister Cee, has passed away at the age of 57, his home station HOT 97 said Wednesday. “Our hearts are heavy as we send our love and condolences to his family and the fans whose lives he touched through his music, rest easy, Mr. Cee. Your legacy will live forever,” the radio station’s tribute said. A cause of death of the music industry professional had not been publicly released as of Wednesday evening. The legendary DJ hosted the “Throwback at Noon” which was among the most listened to programs on New York City Radio at the time. Cee had his hand in launching the careers of many well known artists such as Jay Z, Alicia Keys, 50 Cent and more. Born Calvin LeBrun, Cee played a huge part in building the success of Biggie Smalls. He eventually served as the associate executive producer for The Notorious B.I.G.’s 1994 debut, Ready To Die.
