The Evolution of Religious Beliefs Among Black Americans in the Last 20 Years

The Pew Research Center's 2023-2024 Religious Landscape Study reveals significant trends in Black Americans' religious identities. Christian identification among them declined from 85% in 2007 to 73% in 2024, while those religiously unaffiliated rose from 12% to 22%. Women make up 64% of attendees at historically Black churches.
