Faith in the Storm: Living Bipolar and Knowing God Still Reigns

If one were to envision a quintessential Black superwoman, it would certainly be Sonja Prince-Ward. Juggling her role in an assisted living center, a governmental position, and spearheading her church's hospitality ministry, she epitomizes tenacity despite her bipolar diagnosis. Sonja exhibited symptoms of bipolar disorder from an early age, ultimately receiving her diagnosis at just 13. By embracing her journey, she has committed herself to empowering others.In her contribution to the 2024 anthology "Empowered to Win," Sonja narrates her experiences of faith and parenting alongside her husband, Elliott, and their four children.
