The Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra (ICO) is bringing music back to Indianapolis Parks this September.&
The free concerts, which are in partnership with Indy Parks with support from The National Bank of Indianapolis and The Penrod Society, will take place in Garfield Park on Sept. 4, in Riverside Park on Sept. 5 and Holliday Park on Sept. 6. The ICO will perform a variety of classical favorites, Broadway hits and performances from The Global Prep Academy Bilingual Choir and Indianapolis Suzuki Academy.
The first concert, which takes place at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 4 at the MacAllister Amphitheatre at Garfield Park, will also be ICO’s first of the year. Students from the Indianapolis Suzuki Academy will join the orchestra onstage to perform works by Chevalier, Rossini and Schubert as well as Cole Porter (“Night and Day”) and Henry Mancini (“The Pink Panther”). The concert will also include sections from Bernstein’s West Side Story and a Broadway medley entitled “Curtain Up!”
