The quaint village of Morne Paul in Laborie's southern district is celebrated for its stunning Caribbean Sea vistas and the illustrious Pitons. It has now gained recognition as the birthplace of Saint Lucia's inaugural double CARIFTA Games sprint champion, Jady Emmanuel. The Choiseul Secondary School standout clinched Under-17 girls’ 200m gold at Trinidad and Tobago’s Hasely Crawford Stadium, clocking 23.47 seconds. Despite leg cramps and a slight headwind, she triumphed, improving on previous records set by Olympic champion Julien Alfred. Emmanuel's victories contributed significantly to Saint Lucia's medal tally.
