LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The Kentucky Black Sports Hall of Fame is set to move from Georgetown to Louisville next year, as reported by our affiliates at Louisville Business First. Founded in 2008 at the Buffalo Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to educational and agricultural initiatives for urban youth, the hall plans its transition to the Roots 101 museum, which focuses on African American heritage, located at the intersection of 1st and Washington streets downtown in 2026. Barry Tilford, son of co-founder Bias Tilford, expressed optimism about the move, stating, “Louisville possesses a metropolitan strength that can sustain the Hall of Fame, distinctively situated away from Lexington.” He added that they wish to participate in a thriving cultural institution like Roots 101 while still hosting events like the Soul of Thoroughbred Racing at the Kentucky Horse Park. Inductees include icons such as Muhammad Ali, Wade Houston, and Lenny Lyles.
