King Says UWP Government Failed Saint Lucia

Former Prime Minister and Infrastructure Minister, Stephenson King, says the current opposition United Workers Party (UWP) leadership should be too ashamed to criticise the sitting government.
King, who served as Infrastructure Minister under the former Allen Chastanet-led Administration, says the UWP did not prioritise the wellbeing of Saint Lucians while in office.
The Opposition has been on record bashing the Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) government’s record in office, including management of healthcare, particularly at the OKEU Hospital and the reconstruction of the St Jude Hospital.
“They should hide their faces because you take the healthcare system, all of the issues that they’re talking about in the healthcare system existed during their time. All of the issues. They couldn’t pay the debt for persons who had gone to Martinique for treatment,” King said in an interview with MBC Prime last week.
The Infrastructure Minister explains that the OKEU Hospital commenced under his stewardship as Prime Minister and was completed during the 2011-2016 Kenny Anthony administration. King however blames Chastanet for refusing to open the hospital.
