LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — An annual celebration of art, music, and community filled the streets of Louisville’s California neighborhood on Saturday. LouiEvolve’s Hip Hop & Arts Festival returned to 13th Street and Broadway. It was a three-day event. The event included several family-friendly activities, and booths, some of which promoted social justice and equity. It also had several booths showcasing local businesses. Mahogany Mayfield introduced people to her business — The Sis That Journals. She hopes people use her journals as tool to help them cultivate and document meaningful, community-driven relationships. “My journals are founded on sisterhood and I journal in real life. I’m connected to a lot of awesome women, particularly Black women that’s just like taken care of me, and I take care of me. So, that’s like really the foundation of my business and I just find it important to have a relationship with yourself because then you’re able to cultivate other safe and meaningful relationships.
