May marks Older Americans Month, and on May 13, Mayor Allen Joines paid a visit to AARP Forsyth Chapter #1797, where he delivered a proclamation celebrating the achievements and wisdom of senior citizens in our community. Chapter president SandraKay Lawson-Crump welcomed the mayor, highlighting this year's theme: “Flip the Script on Aging.” Following the proclamation, Melissa Smith showcased the extensive services offered by the Shepherd’s Center of Greater Winston-Salem. Members expressed their favorite aspects of aging, sharing insights like cost discounts and the enjoyment of flexibility. Aurelia Worthy appreciated respect from younger individuals, while Constance Carlton valued the freedom to connect with family and travel.
