Micoud Carnival Revelers Brave Inclement Weather

Heavy rain and even thunderstorms over the weekend were not enough to deter Carnival revelers in the community of Micoud.
The phrase “no rain can stop this jam” is often used by West Indian revelers known for their penchant for parties in the sun or rain. That much was true for Micoud Carnival.
Hundreds of revelers turned out for the event, and they all appeared to have had a great time.
Micoud’s carnival weekend began with a J’ouvert on the morning of Saturday, August 3, followed by a T-shirt jump-up that afternoon.
Then, on Sunday, August 4, the costumed bands paraded through the village.
Many onlookers braved the weather that day to watch and cheer on the revelers.
Four bands paraded in the street parade, with the D’unmasked carnival band being the largest.
Micoud Carnival returned to the community last year for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Micoud Carnival committee once again organized this year’s event with support from sponsors.
While the main carnival in Saint Lucia ended on July 16, community carnivals have continued.
Two weeks ago, it was the turn of Soufriere and Canaries, and both Gros Islet and Micoud hosted their carnivals last weekend....
