MNPS recently inaugurated its latest educational edifice during a ceremony attended by an enthusiastic assembly of students, faculty, staff, and community stakeholders at Lakeview Elementary School. This expansive 117,541-square-foot facility, located in Antioch, is equipped with cutting-edge technology and design features aimed at fostering an effective and engaging learning space for roughly 800 students.“This exemplifies the impact of a city's investment in its students and educators,” stated MNPS Superintendent Dr. Adrienne Battle. “Community support for public education fosters opportunities for our youth on a foundational level.”Nearly six decades after the original structure emerged, the new Lakeview boasts a community room that opens up to an outdoor stage, a full-sized multipurpose gym, and a geothermal well system for eco-friendly temperature regulation. Light shelves allow natural sunlight while minimizing glare, introducing sustainable design elements.Lakeview fourth-grader Khrysten Perez Portillo echoed the sentiment of safety and beauty that permeates the school, which Executive Principal Angela Davis affirmed, encouraging students with their motto: “New Den, Same Pride.”
