Morehouse College is set to broaden its retail business program designed to elevate Black entrepreneurs, though financing obstacles may hinder progress. Within the walls of Morehouse’s African American Hall of Fame, Demond Crump showcases his products, representing his enterprise, REIGN Premium Sanitary Napkins. “More than 1.5 million women have benefited from our product,” Crump revealed. He is one of 20 retail entrepreneurs who have dedicated the past 18 months to mastering essential skills in scaling operations, profitability, and growth.
“You must attend for one primary reason beyond gaining knowledge—networking. There’s nothing quite like congregating with individuals who share your vision and ambition,” Crump emphasized. Meanwhile, Tiffany Bussey, executive director of the college’s Innovation & Entrepreneurship Center, expressed concern regarding the funding for the upcoming cohort, especially amid prevailing economic uncertainties. The program's expansion hangs in the balance, highlighting the need for robust financial support to empower these aspiring entrepreneurs.
