Detroit’s construction sector is witnessing an unprecedented surge, backed by billions in active projects. The Gilbert Family Foundation’s Motor City Contractor Fund (MCCF), in collaboration with renowned construction firm Barton Malow and Invest Detroit, is seizing this moment to facilitate connections for local contractors during National Construction Inclusion Week (October 13-17). On October 14, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m., contractors will have the unique opportunity to engage with industry leaders at Barton Malow’s Southfield headquarters. This event, a first for MCCF’s third cohort, aims to foster dialogue and understanding of the extensive opportunities within Detroit's burgeoning construction landscape. Shenai Jackson, MCCF's Program Manager, emphasizes the importance of creating a welcoming environment for contractors, particularly those who may feel marginalized. Attendees will interact with representatives from the City of Detroit Land Bank, Detroit Development Fund, and others, reinforcing equity in accessing major construction projects valued at over $5 billion. Advance registration is required for all Detroit-based contractors, including minority- and woman-owned firms, and subcontractors aiming to tap into larger project networks.
