A new youth football league complex, known as Woodland Park Football Complex, is set to open in Southern Dallas at 2115 W. Wheatland Road, transforming an empty field into a vibrant facility for games, training, and community events. The Dallas Park and Recreation Department conducted a ribbon-cutting ceremony recently, marking the commencement of this project, which featured performances by the Carter High School Drumline and football team. City officials and community representatives were in attendance, celebrating this significant development.Key speakers included Lorie Blair, District 8 Council member, former Dallas Mayor Pro Tem Tennell Atkins, and Dallas Park and Recreation board members JR Huerta and Bo Slaughter, alongside Director John D. Jenkins.Funded by a City of Dallas bond program with $2.4 million, the complex will encompass seven acres and include a regulation football field, ample parking, energy-efficient lighting, irrigation, and modern amenities. This facility aims to enhance recreational opportunities and foster youth development in the Southern Dallas community.
