A recent survey conducted by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research showcases a rising public doubt regarding the efficacy of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. This survey, carried out from July 10 to July 14, 2025, involved 1,437 U.S. adults. Findings revealed that merely one-third of participants believe DEI efforts meaningfully diminish discrimination against women, Hispanic individuals, or Asian Americans. Approximately 40% asserted these initiatives address bias directed at Black people, yet nearly 30% felt that such programs exacerbate discrimination, even against white people. Moreover, the poll revealed a drastic decline in the recognition of racial discrimination. In 2021, 61% acknowledged discrimination against Black Americans, a figure now plummeting to 40%. Even more startling, for Asian Americans, acknowledgment dropped from 46% to 30%. Despite this, 74% of Black respondents maintain their communities still face significant discrimination. As concerns heighten regarding Project 2025, advocates warn it poses a substantial threat to civil rights protections for marginalized communities.
