Owners Keith and Phyllis McDonald Johnson are preparing to launch on Thursday, August 28, diligently tackling their to-do list.“It’s been an adventure,” Phyllis stated, as she and her husband synchronize merchandise orders, deliveries, staff management, and marketing plans. They aspire to create an inviting atmosphere for community members. Situated at 1309 Fulton Ave., in a former Rite-Aid site, this Grocery Outlet aims to offer fresh, organic products at attractive prices, while generating job opportunities for locals. Their prior experience and dedication to the community distinguished them as franchisees.Having completed a yearlong training program, the Johnsons express enthusiasm about addressing local food desert issues. Recent job fairs successfully introduced new talent to their team and further community engagement through partnerships is anticipated, ultimately fostering prosperity. Festivities begin at 7 a.m. on opening day, including perks for the first 100 customers.
