Saint Lucia Confirms Tight Security For T20 World Cup

Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre has disclosed that Saint Lucia and other Caribbean host countries for the Men’s T20 World Cup are taking all necessary measures to ensure the event’s safety and security.
“Like a good jazz, we expect good cricket,” Pierre told reporters on Tuesday, referencing Saint Lucia’s recent successful hosting of its acclaimed Jazz and Arts festival.
Cricket West Indies (CWI) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) have made it clear that safety and security are their utmost priority.
They have assured all stakeholders that they are fully committed to ensuring a safe and secure environment for the T20 World Cup.
“We have a comprehensive and robust security plan in place,” a statement from the two organisations noted.
The joint statement earlier this month came amid reports that Trinidad & Tobago Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley confirmed that security agencies were monitoring a possible terror threat to the event.
“The threat of terrorism – we are taking all the necessary steps to deal with,” Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre stated.
