Donald Trump has expressed a desire for Gayle King to be removed from her position at CBS. The 79-year-old former president issued a scathing critique of the “CBS Mornings” co-host, 70, in light of rumors that the network is considering terminating her contract. In a Truth Social post made on August 4, he declared, “Gayle King’s career is over. She should have stayed with her belief in TRUMP. She never had the courage to do so. No talent, no ratings, no strength!!!”
Accompanying his remarks was an article from the New York Post, suggesting that King and producer Shawna Thomas' agenda has negatively impacted the show’s ratings since 2024. Joining the program in 2012, King extended her contract last year, reportedly worth between $13 million and $15 million through 2026.
Reactions on social media ranged from disbelief to criticism, with some questioning Trump's motivation. King and her co-hosts had recently reacted to CBS’ announcement regarding the cancellation of “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” coinciding with her contract's expiration.
