Spartans win Central Piedmont 4-A tournament championship

After battling back from an 11-point, half-time deficit, the Mount Tabor Spartans captured the Central Piedmont 4-A Conference tournament championship game on Friday night. In the thrilling matchup against West Forsyth, Mount Tabor came away with the 63-55 win.  The conference championship between the Spartans and the Titans was the fourth time the teams met this year. Mount Tabor won the first match-up in Dec. during the Frank Spencer Holiday Classic, while the Titans won both regular season games during conference play. West was also the regular season Piedmont 4-A Conference regular season champions.   In the conference title game, the Spartans were led by Will Koonin, who finished with 19 points, Snook Peterkin who finished with 19, and Amare Robinson who added 14. Aidan O’Gara helped guild the Spartans to victory with his seven assists. The Titans were led by Jacari Brim who finished the contest with 18 points, and Jordan Tate who had 14.    Now with the regular season in the books, Mount Tabor and West Forsyth will set their sights on the NCHSAA 4-A Championship.
