SPORTS HISTORY IN BLACK: Lou Brock smashes Ty Cobb’s longtime MLB record

Lou Brock was one of the fastest players to ever play in Major League Baseball. The outfielder would find his way on base by either drawing a walk or getting a hit — and that was when the great excitement would begin.

Brock became known and feared around the league on the basepaths over his entire career, eliminating the need for multiple hits to bring him in to score by stealing multiple bases at times to get himself to third base.
Brock would do this for years in his career and eventually, he made history. Brock would steal his 893rd base on Aug. 29, 1977.
