Last week, parents, students, school administrators, and local leaders gathered in Oak Park to celebrate the revitalization of St. HOPE Public School 7 at 5201 Strawberry Lane."This day signifies the completion of a $34 million investment in Oak Park's core," remarked Carolyn Veal-Hunter, Chair of the St. HOPE Public Schools Board. "Outdated classrooms have been metamorphosed into a contemporary learning hub featuring modern classrooms, a revitalized administration building, a new multi-purpose room, and enhanced outdoor play spaces, including a basketball court."Reflecting on the school's historical journey, Veal-Hunter expressed pride, noting, "I was inspired to witness the project led by a female manager, symbolizing equity, hope, and inclusion." For over two decades, students have thrived despite physical limitations, attending school prepared to learn in environments that elevate and inspire.Originally designed in the 1950s, PS7 has evolved from solid but dated facilities to a modern institution with 31 classrooms, serving 700 students, supported by significant financial backing. Upgrades include health and wellness rooms, digital resources in classrooms, and improved outdoor facilities, all aimed at enhancing student experience and community pride.
