Today, The Sacramento OBSERVER published an opinion article on its website and social media platforms that did not comply with our established editorial standards. We sincerely regret this error and want to reassure our readers and the broader Sacramento community that we promptly removed the content upon identifying the oversight. For over sixty years, The Sacramento OBSERVER has stood as a pillar of Black journalism, founded on the ideals of courage and dedication by Dr. William H. Lee, and continued by the Lee family and our devoted team. This commitment has brought us more than 800 awards, including being named the top Black newspaper in the nation eight times. This incident is an unfortunate anomaly and does not reflect the integrity and high standards we have maintained since 1962. We are implementing an immediate review of our editorial processes and re-briefing our staff on our editorial guidelines to uphold our commitment to quality journalism. Larry Lee Publisher and President, The Sacramento OBSERVER
