Shanda Moore, a knowledgeable nurse practitioner and proprietor of Prosperity Health and Fitness, sought to expand her understanding of business fundamentals. With locations in Haddon Township and near Cherry Hill, Moore was transitioning from employment to entrepreneurship and needed guidance. She discovered the African American Chamber of Commerce’s Women’s Business Accelerator Program. “They provided excellent speakers offering diverse perspectives on business strategies, invaluable resources, and useful tools,” Moore remarked. “The program grants access to individuals you might not otherwise meet. I highly recommend it.” Recent graduates of the inaugural cohort were celebrated during the Chamber’s second annual Women’s Empowerment Brunch at Parx East Casino Hotel. Regina Hairston, the Chamber’s president, emphasized the challenges women-owned businesses face, referencing that they receive a mere 1% of venture capital. To qualify for the program, applicants must be Chamber members with businesses at least two years old, generating $200,000 in revenue.
