Legendary Jayne Kennedy Makes a Special Appearance at Underground Books

Jayne Kennedy, a groundbreaking figure who transformed American perceptions in broadcast and entertainment, is back with her memoir, “Plain Jayne.” Released in September, the book reflects her evolution from a small-town girl in Ohio to an influential television personality, model, and actress. On October 23, Kennedy appeared in Sacramento at the Oak Park Speaker Series hosted by Underground Books, captivating fans eager to learn from the woman who altered the landscape for women, especially Black women, in sports entertainment. Kennedy's passion for the arts ignited in childhood, often declaring her ambition of becoming a movie star. She achieved this and more, becoming the first Black Miss Ohio USA and establishing a career in Hollywood, notably as the first Black woman to host a nationally televised NFL pregame show. Now in her 70s, Kennedy aims to inspire others through her memoir and production company, Not Done Yet, encouraging resilience and the pursuit of dreams.
