The Critics Choice Association has unveiled the honorees for its 8th annual celebration of Black Cinema and Television, scheduled for December 9th at the Fairmont Hotel in Los Angeles.Executive Producer Shawn Edwards expressed his pride in honoring excellence within Black cinema and television, reflecting on the transformative impact of figures like Spike Lee and Ryan Coogler, alongside the rising prominence of Black women in entertainment. This year's recipients include Naya Desir-Johnson, awarded the Rising Star Award for her role in "Sarah’s Oil." Tenika Davis will receive the Breakthrough Performance Award for her portrayal in "Spartacus: House of Ashur." Skye P. Marshall is awarded for Supporting Actress on "Matlock." Damson Idris takes home the Best Supporting Actor award for "F1," while Jurnee Smollett earns recognition for "Smoke." Sterling K. Brown garners Best Actor Award for "Paradise," and Tessa Thompson receives the Actress Award for "Hedda." Other honors include Janelle James for Comedy and a Documentary Award for Shola Lynch and Reginald Hudlin’s "Number One on the Call Sheet." Ryan Coogler is celebrated as Best Director.
