The Legacy Walk at Roberts Settlement, an experience that tells the story of Indiana’s Black pioneers, will open to the public from 6-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3.

Visitors will walk through four themed stations, each with a title monolith, bench and an interpretive panel with photos, maps and other graphics.& &

“We are thrilled to share this piece of our Roberts family history with the public,” said LaVella Hyter, president of the Roberts Settlement Board of Directors. “Their significance as Black pioneers is beautifully represented at the very place where they gathered to worship and began building a legacy of perseverance and determination that continued through generations of Roberts Settlement descendants. I believe they would be very proud today.”&
