Colleagues at The Indianapolis Recorder fondly remember Jeffery Sellers as intelligent, humorous, and dedicated. Passing away in mid-May 2023, he made an indelible impact during his 32 years at the publication, retiring in 2021. In his words, “I love the people at the Recorder,” underscoring his deep connection with his team. Recorder President Robert Shegog highlighted Sellers' unwavering dedication, stating, "He was the steady heartbeat of our organization." Sellers not only trained aspiring journalists but infused compassion into storytelling. His friend Barato Britt celebrated Sellers' knowledge and commitment, while Production Manager Jeana Ouattara cherished his rich stories about the Recorder's legacy. A treasured member of the staff, Sellers exemplified leadership and love for his community, leaving a remarkable legacy. His memorial service is scheduled for June 5, 2025.
