An Army veteran has been accused of murdering an 11-year-old boy, Julian Guzman, who was playing a game of “ding-dong ditch” at his front door in east Houston. Gonzalo Leon, 42, faces grave charges as the aftermath of the shooting unfolded with Guzman pleading for help. Prosecutors established Leon’s bond at an imposing $1 million, with District Attorney Sean Teare describing the case as both tragic and brutal. The incident occurred late on August 30, when Guzman and his friends, attending a birthday celebration, decided to engage in their neighborhood mischief.Witnesses revealed that Guzman knocked on Leon's door multiple times before a man dressed in black emerged, brandishing a firearm. After discharging the weapon into the ground, Leon shot the boy in the back, who fell, crying for assistance. Despite attempts to save him, Guzman succumbed to his injuries at a hospital. Leon was initially released following questioning but later apprehended at a hotel. The investigation unveiled Leon's extensive arsenal of over 20 firearms.
