Health by Design is partnering with the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI) to elevate its Indiana Road to Zero Academy (IRTZA) through a series of regional workshops focused on reducing traffic incidents and fatalities statewide. Established in 2022, IRTZA is dedicated to providing transportation professionals—engineers, planners, and safety advocates—with tools grounded in Safe System and Vision Zero methodologies. The upcoming 2025 initiative, backed by ICJI’s Traffic Safety Improvement Program, will feature two in-person workshops in northern and southern Indiana, slated for mid to late September. Engaging hands-on sessions will tackle vital elements of traffic safety: secure roads, appropriate speeds, and responsible road users. Furthermore, a statewide Vision Zero Working Group will also be created to offer tailored crash analysis and assistance in high-risk areas. For community input on workshop locations, suggestions can be submitted via an online form. More information on registration and dates will be released later this year.
