Understanding Trump: Inside Look From A Mental Health Professional

For seven years, I have advocated for the vulnerable at TeamBuilders Behavioral Health and Tri County Community Services in Taos, New Mexico. The dismantling of essential government programs under the Trump administration deeply impacts my clients, who depend on these safety nets for daily survival. The notion that local agencies alone can address mental health needs is misguided; our community offers limited resources and funding. With escalating wealth inequality and underfunded initiatives like Medicaid, many face dire circumstances. The arduous process of applying for SSI and SSDI leads to significant denials. As I coach clients to seek stability through employment despite their challenges, it's vital to confront policies that divert aid from the needy to the wealthy. Advocacy and collective action are essential to equitable progress.
