Contributed On Saturday, July 6, 2024, a memorial bench honoring documented original Tuskegee Airmen (DOTA) Leslie Edwards Jr. will be dedicated. Edwards was staff sergeant/flight chief of Tuskegee Airmen Flight A. The public is invited to the 11 a.m. dedication event at the Valley Homes Community Building, 9842 Leggett Street, Lincoln Heights, 45215, and the bench unveiling at 12:30 p.m. near the corner of Medosch Avenue and Villas Circle. A member of the 617th Bombardment Squadron, 477th Bombardment Group, Richardson was a mechanic of B-25 Mitchell ‘Medium’ Bombers. He was awarded a collective ‘2007’ Tuskegee Airmen Gold Medal. Honorably discharged in 1946, DOTA Edwards’ unit was prepared to go overseas when the Japanese surrendered in August 1945.
