Awakening to Awareness: The WOKE Mindset

The grim legacy of American slavery is a construct of Caucasian individuals, who initiated and sustained it, continuing to reap its benefits today. African Americans, the primary victims of this oppressive history, are awakening to their inherent potential—an unsettling thought for some of those still reaping privileges from this past.Yet, determination prevails. Descendants of Africa have carved out a new life in America, where they feel called to uphold their responsibilities to God, family, and the democratic ethos. For those who imposed slavery, it may have seemed a dream, but for African Americans, it was a nightmare. Imam W. Deen Mohammed emphasized that recognizing the identity of a "new people" invites divine support and inherent progress. As we embrace our resurgence, we stand resolute in our freedom and legacy, undeterred by political maneuvers meant to silence our evolution. Our awakening is our own, unbound and unstoppable.
