Winston-Salem's Police Motorcyclists Providing Essential Classroom and Road Training

The Winston-Salem Police Department invites motorcyclists from the community to an engaging day of riding. The BikeSafeNC event at the WSPD Special Operations Building offers skill demonstrations, classes, and ride-alongs on May 2. High-caliber police motorcyclists will lead the initiative, promoting safer and more enjoyable riding experiences.Originally launched in Wake County in 2007, BikeSafeNC collaborates with the N.C. State Highway Patrol, yielding a significant reduction in motorcycle fatalities statewide. As of 2025, the program continues to thrive, supported by the Governor’s Highway Safety Program. Starting promptly at 8:45 a.m., Master Police Officer Elijah Cox will lead a classroom discussion covering motorcycle control and hazard management, followed by guided ride assessments.
