Mega Lawsuit: Black Kansas Truck Driver Accuses Estes Express Lines of Racial and Sexual Harassment by White Supervisor

A Black truck driver, Justin Williams, is suing Estes Express Lines in Kansas, alleging racial and sexual discrimination. His complaint, filed in U.S. District Court, claims that his white supervisor, Mike Rumbley, subjected him to demeaning and vulgar remarks, terminating him after he reported the harassment.Williams joined Estes in June 2023, undergoing training at their facility. Rumbley reportedly made offensive comments, asserting he "owned" Williams and threatening job security. Allegations include inappropriate phrases and gestures, undermining Williams’s workplace experience.Despite reporting these abuses, Williams received a suspension instead of protection. He filed complaints with the Kansas Human Rights Commission and EEOC, leading to further harassment before his termination on July 24, 2024. Seeking a jury trial and $300,000 in damages, Williams asserts negligence on Estes's part for not addressing the hostile environment.
