Saint Lucian footballer Shamalyn Albert concluded her inaugural season in the Martinique Women’s Football League earlier this month, distinguishing herself as the leading scorer for Avenir FC and the top player during the season's finale. The 30-year-old forward from Choiseul expressed her excitement about her debut in the Liga de Fútbol Femenina de Martinique while speaking to St. Lucia Times. "My experience with Avenir Football Club has been among the most fulfilling of my football career," she remarked. Initially apprehensive about the opportunity, she believes her choice positively transformed her life and career. Albert’s remarkable tally of 19 goals fueled her team's title aspirations, even as they fell short. Despite a quarterfinal exit, she stood out in the festival, earning top-scorer honors with three goals. Albert's impressive scoring track record includes 14 goals for champions Soufriere and a notable presence on the international stage.
