Casimir's Advice for Event Planners: Utilize Resources While Preserving Their Integrity

Last year, Kenson Casimir, Minister of Youth Development and Sports in Saint Lucia, reiterated the need to cease entertainment events at the island's sporting venues. He revealed intentions to submit a proposal to the Cabinet for the establishment of a National Entertainment Centre, aimed at reducing dependency on sports facilities for entertainment purposes. In recent years, locations such as the Soufriere Mini Stadium and Mindoo Phillip Park have served dual roles as both sports and entertainment sites. During a Monday pre-Cabinet briefing, ministers discussed the potential for coexistence between sports and entertainment at these venues.Casimir, who began his athletic journey at age seven, expressed a strong personal connection to these facilities, stating, “When people misuse these spaces, it raises the question of why we cannot establish dedicated areas.” He also mentioned updates to other venues and stressed the importance of proper care, urging users to preserve the integrity of the facilities. He provided insights on developing a national entertainment facility in Beausejour, emphasizing community consultation before finalizing plans.
