Celebrating Literature: The 18th Annual Les Gemmes Literary Luncheon

In 2007, I convened with Mrs. Edwina Hefner in the TSU President’s sunroom to establish a Les Gemmes, Incorporated chapter in Nashville, inspired by her knowledge of the group from Atlanta. The founding members included notable figures such as Dr. Valencia Price and Rosetta Miller-Perry. We initiated "Lighting the Path for Girls" to mentor young women, leading to our inaugural “Literary Luncheon,” which highlighted literature and reading. Over 18 years, this event evolved to recognize local heroes and artists, funding scholarships and workshops.
