A first career four wickets from Saint Lucia’s Shadrack Descarte, on top of half-centuries from Alick Athanaze, captain Sunil Ambris, and Kavem Hodge helped guide the Windward Islands Volcanoes to their second win in the 2024 Cricket West Indies (CWI) CG Super50 on Wednesday.
The 2018 winners overcame Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) by 98 runs via the DLS method at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, Trinidad & Tobago.
Decarte is still in search of further joy with the bat, after hitting 50 in the match against the Guyana Harpy Eagles two weeks ago, but on Wednesday he shone with the ball.
CCC won the toss and inserted the Windwards. The Islanders got out to 307-7 in a match reduced to 44 overs a side, as Athanaze hit 77, Ambris 70, and Hodge 50.
Set a revised target of 312 off their 44 overs, CCC were all out for 213 in 36.3 overs, the 27-year-old Descarte taking a List A career-best 4-43 from 6.3 with his medium pace.
Darius Martin and Kenneth Dember took two wickets each.
