The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art is taking steps to reduce its overall energy use as part of its commitment to environmental sustainability. Eiteljorg has had an overall 18% reduction in its electricity consumption, and in recognition of this accomplishment, AES Indiana presented a financial incentive to the museum. Eiteljorg received $72,210 in incentives from the utility company: $22,810 to support all energy reduction implementation costs and $49,400 to cover the full cost of an energy efficiency study.& AES Indiana has a retro-commissioning program (RCx) that helps participating businesses, nonprofits and other commercial utility ratepayers identify potential areas for improving energy efficiency. If the companies and organizations have a study done by one of AES Indiana’s qualified providers and implement suggested improvements, AES Indiana can absorb& 75% of the study costs.& Through its participation in the RCx program, the Eiteljorg Musem has found and implemented improvements that will help museum operations.
