A tragic case of fraternal violence has left a family in mourning after Augustus Forde, also known as Leroy, was brutally killed by a relative in Montego Bay, Aux Lyon, Dennery.
Initial reports indicate that the 66-year-old mechanic was attacked at approximately 3 p.m. while working on a machine. His wife, Lily Forde, who witnessed the horrifying incident, recalled the moment she saw the suspect approaching with a firearm.
Despite her warnings to her husband she said, the attack unfolded swiftly. He attempted to flee but did not make it far. He was shot and collapsed into a drain near his home, where his attacker struck him multiple times in the head with a cutlass.
Forde was pronounced dead at the scene.
Through tears, the grieving wife spoke of the years of tension between the two, largely rooted in ongoing disputes over property and possessions.
“It’s jealousy,” she said. “He always wanted my husband to sell his boat to him, but my husband tell him he cannot sell his boat. He threatened my husband so many times, saying if he didn’t sell it, he would kill him. And yesterday, he finally did.”
