(The Dallas Examiner) –The will to win continues for Lancaster Tigers head basketball coach Ferrin Douglas and the boys varsity team.On March 9, the team won the UIL State 5A basketball championship by defeating Killeen Ellison 59-30 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.Related Stories NBA Hall of Famer Chris Bosh was at the game, supporting Douglas and his team. Douglas previously coached Bosh when he was a student and basketball player at Lincoln High School in Dallas.The victory marked Lancaster’s fourth state championship and the squads first in nearly a decade. It was also Douglas’ fourth championship as Lancaster High School’s head basketball coach.This season kicked off Nov. 8. Douglas and his team hoped to add another trophy to their case as they looked to win back-to-back state titles.“I think the guys just really kind of just bought into the system, and what we were trying to do as a team,” Douglas said. “I had a lot of great teams to come through, but these guys, kind of, like the other championship team, just kind of really bought into what me and the coaching staff was teaching, and they did a great job.”Several players went on to play at the...
