Meharry Medical College, a historically Black educational institution in Nashville, Tennessee, has recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the United States Department of Health and Human Services with the goal of increasing diversity in the federal workforce. The new partnership will provide a pathway for Meharry students to pursue careers with the Department of Health and Human Services upon graduation. The agreement will introduce Meharry students to various career development programs, internships, and employment opportunities with the federal department. The learning opportunities include training, mentoring, and shadowing experiences. As part of the agreement, leaders from both institutions will work together to create joint conferences, panel discussions, and speaking opportunities. “This memorandum of understanding with Health and Human Services will give our students and other Meharrians an opportunity to work with government and provide new avenues for the health equity future,” said Jeannette South Paul, provost of Meharry Medical College.
