A North Carolina mother faces charges after allegedly firing a weapon during a back-to-school event following a dispute involving her son. On August 9, 34-year-old Cherez Davis was arrested on counts of carrying a concealed firearm and “going armed to the terror of the public,” according to PEOPLE. The incident transpired at the C.W. Williams Community Health Center's Back-to-School Health Fair, which attracted over 100 attendees, including numerous children, offering affordable physicals, immunizations, and free school supplies. The affidavit reveals that following her son’s conflict with another child and an adult's intervention, Davis produced a Taurus G6 handgun from her backpack and discharged two rounds into the air, intending to diffuse the situation. This sudden outburst instigated panic, prompting attendees to scatter. After she reholstered her weapon and attempted to leave, law enforcement found and arrested her. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Davis has been released on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled for a court appearance on December 9.
