NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A poignant tree dedication took place at Bordeaux Gardens Park this week, honoring Commander Anthony McClain, a revered figure in North Nashville and a veteran of the Metro Nashville Police Department. McClain passed away in February at 53 due to complications from a heart attack experienced at work. For 27 years, he earned widespread respect within the force and the community he cherished. The tree stands as a vibrant tribute, symbolizing McClain's passion for the neighborhood, as his wife Gayla shared, “It offers a space for reflection in the community he loved.” Prayer and remembrance have aided North Nashville and his family in processing this sudden loss. Appointed by Chief John Drake to lead the North Precinct in 2021, McClain oversaw a vast area surpassing one-fifth of Davidson County. His service, beginning with the U.S. Air Force in the '90s, was marked by dedication and compassion.
