The TSU Board of Trustees officially confirmed his appointment during a special meeting on Tuesday, August 5. Dakasha Winton, Chair of the Board, remarked, “On behalf of the TSU Board of Trustees, I am delighted to announce Dwayne Tucker's elevation to the presidency. His leadership amid uncertainty and challenges, marked by dignity and a commitment to prioritize students, made him the clear candidate for the role.” Tucker has been serving as TSU's interim president since December 2024, now becoming the ninth president in the university's history. “I am grateful for the Board of Trustees and our community as we continue this journey,” Tucker expressed. “My commitment centers on guiding TSU toward sustainability.” Before this role, Tucker was the CEO of LEAD Public Schools, enhancing his corporate expertise in various functions essential for the university's growth.
